Update – Fire Chief reports on Saturday fires

Le Mars Fire Chief updates the days events from Saturday:

From the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department:

Fires broke out across Plymouth County Saturday around 12:30 p.m.  The largest fire was just south of Le Mars or east of Merrill. At one point all 7 fire departments in Plymouth County were out on calls, Akron, Hinton, Kingsley, Merrill, Le Mars, Oyens and Remsen, with some of those agencies having more than one call at a time.
Law Enforcement agencies assisting with traffic control and road closures included the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Le Mars and Hinton Police, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Please take the opportunity to thank your local fire, EMS, dispatch, law enforcement personnel and the local farmers for their use of equipment, they did an outstanding job today.

Peak wind gust Saturday at 1:55 p.m. of 60 m.p.h. at the Le Mars Municipal Airport.
