Le Mars girls tennis turned a negative into a positive with their win over Sioux City North on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs came out and didn’t play up to their potential in their 6-3 loss to the Bishop Heelan Crusaders on Monday. Head Coach Tifany Wright knew she needed to have an honest conversation with her team before they hosted Sioux City North the next day. The Bulldogs responded well to that to the tune of a 6-3 win over the Stars.
For a coach, there are subtle things that can indicate right away whether an athlete or team is invested in their competition. Coach Wright saw that through the Bulldogs’ footwork in their win over the Stars.

Claire Blezek and Payton Wright sport the #1 doubles tandem for the Bulldogs and their #1 and #3 singles matchups. Both girls got wins in their singles matches and they combined for a win in their doubles match. Coach Wright says their chemistry is unmatched.
As with most spring sports this year, weather has impacted the Le Mars girls tennis team keeping them from getting their desired amount of competitions. Coach Wright and the Bulldogs have a busy week upcoming. She says she wants the girls to finish strong to hopefully lead to some deep postseason tennis.
The Bulldogs go to Council Bluffs on Friday for a triangular with Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.
