Rylee Schnepf Reaches Career Milestones in Gehlen Catholic’s Win Over Harris-Lake Park

History was made on Thursday at the Riverview Softball Complex in Gehlen Catholic’s 7-0 win over Harris-Lake Park.

Rylee Schnepf has been working her magic in the circle for Gehlen Catholic over the last five years, and her career numbers show it. The senior recorded her 600th career strikeout as part of her 11-strikeout night. The 11 strikeouts now puts her at 602 for her Gehlen Catholic career. Schnepf says reaching a milestone like that is very rewarding.

The win was also Schnepf’s 50th in a Gehlen Catholic uniform. She is Gehlen’s career record holder in both the career win and strikeout category. Head Coach Tony Gunter says it’s a testament to the work she has put in for a long time.

Gunter also says longevity has played a role for Schnepf who’s playing her fifth season in a Jay uniform.

As for the game against Harris-Lake Park, Coach Gunter says Schnepf’s dominance can’t be the only thing that guides Gehlen Catholic. The Jays need some more work done up and down the batting order.

The Jays are young this season, but they now have 10 games under their belt as varsity softball players. As one of the two seniors on the team, Schnepf says the underclassmen are really adapting well and starting to become more and more comfortable as the games go on.

The Jays record improved to 5-5 overall with the win over Harris-Lake Park. They also improved their War Eagle Conference record to 3-1 with the win over the Wolves.

Since Thursday, the Jays went 2-0 at the Le Mars Softball Classic and are now 7-5 overall.
