Le Mars Boys Golf Enjoys Strong Start to Season with Runner-Up Finish at Home Tournament

The Le Mars golf team hosted their invite of MRAC competition on Tuesday at Willow Creek Golf Course. The Bulldogs came away with a second-place finish by eight strokes of team winner Bishop Heelan.

Le Mars golf has had a strong season with a triangular win already in their back pocket from their second competition. Head Coach Nick Knapp says that’s a testament to constant improvement from year-to-year.

That improvement comes from the mental side of the sport of golf. Coach Knapp says his team is using their brain rather than their brawn when they attack a hole.

Dylan Susemihl had another strong performance finishing runner-up with a 75. He has been the one that paces the Bulldogs recording a 76.75 18-hole average in four performances this season. Coach Knapp says individual scores are nice, but they pale in comparison to the success of the whole team.

The Bulldogs now look to continue the season with some momentum as they search for a deep postseason run. For that to happen, Coach Knapp says consistency will be important from everyone.

The Bulldogs are in action again on Thursday at a triangular hosted by Sioux City North at Sun Valley Golf Course.
