County Democratic committees from Plymouth, Sioux, Lyon, O’Brien and Osceola Counties, as well as student Democrats at Northwestern College, held a dessert social Friday night in Orange City. Speaking at the gathering were many of the major Democratic candidates on the ballot in Iowa this fall.
Among them was Sioux County native Michale Franken, who is running for the U.S. Senate.
Also at the gathering was Ryan Melton of Nevada, who is running for Congress in the 4th District.
Other candidates speaking at the event were Candidate for Lt Governor Eric Van Lancker; Secretary of State candidate Joel Miller; Secretary of Agriculture candidate John Norwood; and incumbent State Auditor Rob Sand.
