Le Mars Basketball Sweeps MRAC Matchup with Sioux City North

The Le Mars basketball teams came away with a big MRAC sweep at home on Friday night over Sioux City North.

The Bulldog girls started off the night with their fourth straight win with a 64-32 victory over the Stars.

A four-game winning streak is impressive, and the scoring margins in the streak have been impressive. Le Mars has not allowed more than 42 points in a game during this streak. The Bulldogs have used some outstanding defense to make their opponents uncomfortable. Head Coach Cody Dyhrkopp says making teams speed up with full court defense works well.

On the offensive end, the Bulldogs have also kept a good trend going. They are moving the ball well and getting everyone involved. Coach Dyhrkopp says that makes his offense work like a fine-tuned machine.

Part of that fine-tuned machine on Friday night was Metta Skov. The junior put up 20 points in the win over the Stars while getting seven points at the free throw line. Coach Dyhrkopp says her quickness makes her dangerous on offense.

The Bulldogs now get an opportunity to see a team they do not usually compete with in Dakota Valley. Coach Dyhrkopp hopes this opportunity is one that will suit his team well.

The Bulldogs are now 4-0 in the MRAC to start the year. Sioux City North dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the MRAC.

The Bulldog boys continued the winning trend of the night with a 58-53 victory over the Stars.

The win definitely was not a pretty one for the Bulldogs. They continued their trend of carelessness with regards to committing turnovers. Head Coach Dave Irwin says that has to change for there to be more wins in the future.

The Bulldogs did end up finishing the job thanks to a late boost off the bench from Wanding Hosnyang. He hit a pair of baskets late with one of them sealing off the win. Coach Irwin says his play is impressive with the amount of time he has spent in basketball.

The goal now for the Bulldogs is not primarily to win more games. Coach Irwin says the goal first has to be continuing to get better.

Brayden Dreckman led the offensive attack for the Bulldogs with 16 points as Le Mars improves to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the MRAC. Sioux City North fell to 0-5 overall and in MRAC action.
