Le Mars Ups Losing Streak to Six with Loss to Unbeaten Sioux City East

Le Mars boys basketball ended their first half of the MRAC season continuing an unfortunate trend with a 60-46 loss to #7 Sioux City East on Friday night.

The Bulldogs started strong getting out in front for the majority of the first quarter. Le Mars led 15-14 after one thanks to a 7-0 run that put them ahead by as much as six. Head Coach Dave Irwin says the Bulldogs had to be aggressive as the underdogs to a very good East team.

That great start was followed by a lull on the offensive end that saw them go nearly six minutes without any points. That also allowed East to go on a 13-0 run to retake a seven-point lead and never look back. Coach Irwin says his team needs to develop better consistency to keep the momentum going continuously.

The Black Raiders only finished with 60 points which is 12 below their average and tied for their second lowest scoring game of the season. Coach Irwin says his guys love having success on the defensive end.

The Bulldogs now drop to 2-9 on the year having lost their sixth game in a row. Coach Irwin knew this stretch of games would be tough and says he is seeing improvement that will hopefully lead to success soon.

The Bulldogs finish the first half of the MRAC schedule with a 2-5 conference record. Connor Jalas led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Sioux City East remains perfect now at 12-0 on the season and 7-0 in the MRAC.
