Le Mars Girls Wrestling Wins Inaugural Home Tournament with Seven Wrestlers in the Finals

The Le Mars girls wrestling team earned the honor of being the inaugural champions of the Le Mars Girls Wrestling Invite on Saturday scoring 205 points and winning the title by 39 points over second place. Le Mars head coach Greer Milledge says he hopes winning their home tournament continues to set a good foundation for the program’s future.

Le Mars won the tournament thanks to eight wrestlers placing in the top three with seven wrestling for a title in their weight class. Coach Milledge says that shows some good depth from his team.

Keira Hessenius has been the workhorse for Le Mars all season as the ninth-ranked wrestler in the state in her weight class. She continued her strong season with a title at the 105-pound weight class. Coach Milledge says, when she wrestles her style, she is tough to beat.

Desiree Breuer won the 170-pound title for the Bulldogs after coming from behind 4-1 down to pin her opponent for the title. Coach Milledge says her work ethic shows her ability to stay in matches and pull them out in the end.

The Bulldog season is quickly coming to an end with super regionals in Sioux City in a little over a week on Friday, January 27th. Coach Milledge says the little things are in focus now, and that starts with being better at getting ready pre-match.

The Bulldog girls will be back in action on Tuesday in Spencer for a double dual with the Tigers and MOC-Floyd Valley.
