The Iowa Print Sportswriters Association has released their All-State teams for the 2022-2023 boys basketball season. Three Plymouth County athletes earned all-state honors in Class 1A for their work on the court this season.
On the second team list, Gehlen Catholic’s all-time career scoring leader Keaten Bonderson earned all-state accolades in helping to lead Gehlen Catholic to the substate final. Bonderson led the Jays in scoring with a program-record 586 points this season. That point total ranked 10th in the state in all four classes. He also tied for the best rebounding total in the program this season with 138 of them. He led the team in steals, and in three-point field goals made.
Remsen St. Mary’s picked up a pair of All-State honors starting on the second team with Jaxon Bunkers. Bunkers led the team in scoring this season averaging 15.5 points per game for his senior season. He was also the top distributor of the ball with a team-best 127 assists. That assist total was second in the War Eagle Conference this season.
The Hawks also earned a third team selection in sophomore post player Collin Homan. Homan burst onto the scene during his first full season of varsity action averaging 14.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Hawks. He also led the Hawks in blocked shots with 16 of them. His rebounding total of 186 ranked fourth in the War Eagle Conference this season, and he had the second best field goal percentage in the conference making 62.1% of his shots.
Waukee Northwest’s Pryce Sandfort earned Mr. Basketball honors this season in the state of Iowa.
