The Wine & Chocolate Fundraiser in Sioux City Friday night honored the family of the late Vernon & Elsie Stabe as the host family. Teresa Petty of Le Mars and her brother Bob Stabe both spoke on behalf of the family. Randy Stabe has served as auctioneer for Wine & Chocolate in both Le Mars and Sioux City for many years.
The family of Steven and Dr. Elizabeth Groetken served as host family for the Thursday evening Le Mars event in honor of the memory of Michael Groetken.
The Le Mars fundraiser, with a sold-out crowd, raised a record 98-thousand dollars.
The event in Le Mars was held at the Le Mars Convention Center and featured silent and live auctions, and a five-course meal paired with phenomenal wines. One of the highlights was the auction of a live painting of John Wayne by Jonas Lynch. This item received the high bid of the night reaching $6,500. Jeff Peters served as master of ceremonies for the evening.
