Le Mars Volleyball Sweeps Council Bluffs TJ for First MRAC Win of 2023

The Le Mars volleyball team picked up their first win in Missouri River Activities Conference play with a strong straight-set win over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson on Thursday.

The Bulldogs were coming off dropping their home and MRAC opener last week in five sets to Sergeant Bluff-Luton. They were pretty disappointed after giving away the last two sets that night. Head Coach Jess Wolles says it was a nice boost in their morale to pick up this first win in the conference.

The main reason that Le Mars did not finish well against Sergeant Bluff-Luton was due to losing energy late. That match went five sets, and this one went three, but the point stands that the Bulldogs played hard to the end to beat the Yellow Jackets. Coach Wolles says that was shown in every aspect of the game.

Plenty of hitters contributed in large quantities led by Taylor Mackey’s 11 kills. Coach Wolles says the Bulldogs are strong passers leading to success up front.

The Bulldogs have a full week next week taking on Sioux City West on Tuesday and heading to Cherokee for a tournament on Saturday. Coach Wolles says the goal leading up to those matches is being more efficient offensively.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the MRAC with the win. Council Bluffs TJ fell to 2-11 and 0-2 in the MRAC.
