It’s officially homecoming week for Le Mars Community Schools and celebrations are already kicking off at the school buildings. This year’s theme for homecoming is “Let’s Glow Dogs!” Students and staff members are encouraged to participate in dress up days, with every day this school week being a different theme.
Monday: Elementary Schools – Get up and Glow (PJ’s or Comfy Clothes), Middle School – Pajama Day, High School – Glowing Up Day (Dress like you did while growing up)
Tuesday: District Wide – Tie Dye Tuesday
Wednesday: District Wide – Black Out Day
Thursday: Elementary Schools – Light Up and Glow (Neon Clothes), Middle School – Highlighter Day (Neon Clothes), High School – Highlighter Day (Neon Clothes)
Friday: District Wide: Spirit Day – Wear red and black Bulldogs Gear
The homecoming royalty is made up of 6 boys and six girls. Here are the king candidates.
Evan Jalas
Evan Jalas is the son of Nick and Mindi Jalas. Evan is involved in football, wrestling, track, and baseball. He works at Campbell’s Lawn & Landscapes and P’s Pizza House. His plans for the future are undecided.
Andrew Fifita
Andrew Fifita is the son of Dawn Fifita. Andrew is involved in football and basketball. Andrew plans to go to college after graduation from high school.
Nolan Kass
Nolan Kass is the son of Nate and Tana Kass. He is involved in basketball, football and track. Nolan’s plans after high school graduation are undecided.
Teagen Kasel
Teagen Kasel is the son of Benji and Lori Kasel. Teagen is involved in football, Baseball, basketball, track, NHS, and LeadDog. He works at Bob’s Drive Inn and plans to attend college and major in Pre-Med and play baseball.
Alex Allen
Alex Allen is the son of Curt and Tara Allen. Alex is involved in football, wrestling, track, Student Council, NHS, and LeadDog. Alex works Family Tree and Sauer Trucking in his free time. He plans on attending a 4 year college.
Beau Wadle
Beau Wadle is the son of Kevin and Amy Wadle. Beau is involved in football and track, and works at Family Tree Landscaping.

Sophie Buhman
Sophie Buhman is the daughter of TJ and Stephanie Buhman. Sophie is involved in show choir, solo and ensemble choir, large group speech, symphony, orchestra, and quiz bowl. She works at Jerry’s Pizza.
Zoe Wittkop
Zoe Wittkop is the daughter of Russ and Xinjie Wittkop. Zoe is involved in basketball, soccer, golf, student council, LeadDog Leadership, Spanish Club, NHS, and the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club. She also referees youth soccer games in Sioux Falls and Sioux City. Zoe will be attending South Dakota State to play soccer and study computer science or engineering.
Stella Hector
Stella Hector is the daughter of Karlton and Chelsi Hector. Stella is involved in track and field, student council, NHS, chamber choir, and show choir. She works at the Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor. Stella plans on attending the University of Iowa and pursuing a Nursing degree.
Metta Skov
Metta Skov is the daughter of Andre and Amy Skov. Metta is involved in basketball, soccer, golf, NHS, and LeadDog Leadership. She works at Accura Healthcare and the golf course. Metta plans on attending college in the fall.
Sarah Brown
Sarah Brown is the daughter of Matt and Jodi Brown. Sarah is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, LeadDog Leadership, student council, and NHS. She works at Bob’s Drive Inn and her plans are undecided for next year.
Emma DeRuyter
Emma DeRuyter is the daughter of Dave and Becky DeRuyter. Emma is involved in student council, dance team, football cheer, competitive Dance Team, NHS, quiz bowl, chamber choir, show choir, and large group speech. She works at Bob’s Drive Inn and The Turn Around. Emma’s plans for next year are to study psychology at Iowa State or UNI.
This year’s Master and Mistress of Ceremonies are Kemper Bowden and Katelyn Koster.
Kemper Bowden
Kemper Bowden is the son of Kyle and Tabitha Clarey. He is involved in student council,
chamber choir, show choir, All-State choir, madrigal, fall play, Thespians, solo and ensemble contest, quiz bowl, large group and individual speech, helps with art classes at the art center, and recently received the Iowa High School musical Theater Triple Threat award. He works at the Le Mars Public Library and Jimmy Johns. Kemper plans on attending college.
Katelyn Koster
Katelyn Koster is the daughter of Eric and Heather Koster. Katelyn is involved with the dance team, football cheerleading, track, band, chamber choir, student council, NHS, Spanish Club, girl scouts, show choir, large group and individual speech, quiz bowl, and dance at the Central Dance Academy. Katelyn works at Hy-Vee and plans to attend college.
This year there are 4 littles, that will bring up the crowns for the coronation.
Landon Anderson
Landon Anderson is the son of Ryan and Liz Anderson. He is a student at Kluckhohn
Elementary. He loves playing Leap Frog and attending all the Bulldog games.
Kinley Van Otterloo
Kinley Van Otterloo is the daughter of Caleb and Jenelle Van Otterloo. She also attends
Klukchohn elementary where she enjoys playing the highway game in PE. She loves going to football games.
Steven Bahr
Steven Bahr is the son of Michael and Jennifer Bahr. He attends Franklin Elementary. He likes going to football games and recess is what he enjoys the most at school.
Camryn Dyhrkopp
Camryn Dyhrkopp is the daughter of Cody and Ashley Dyhrkopp. She attends Kluckhohn Elementary where her favorite subject is science. She enjoys cheering on the Bulldogs at football and basketball games.
On Tuesday, before the Varsity Volleyball game, 4th graders will be singing the national anthem in the competition gym. On Friday, the homecoming Coronation and Pep Rally will begin at 1 pm in the LCHS Competition Gym with the parade to follow.
This years parade marshal is Mrs. Nancy Isebrand. She has worked at Le Mars Community Schools for the last 28 years and has taught in northwest Iowa for 30 years. She is the student council advisor, district librarian, video media teacher, and a substitute bus driver. She is married to Cory, and they have two children who are both alumni of LCHS.
Friday night Le Mars will play Sioux City West with kickoff at 7:00pm.
And to end the evening, the LCHS homecoming dance will follow the game and run until midnight in Carey Gym.
