Le Mars girls wrestling started off their MRAC dual schedule with a sweep at Thursday’s triangular in Sioux City. The Bulldogs defeated Council Bluffs 54-24 and Sioux City East 63-6.
The Bulldogs have a had a good start to the year including winning their first tournament of the year to open the season. This year, the Bulldogs have focused on being more aggressive and taking some more shots when in competition. Head coach Greer Milledge says he saw that in the first MRAC duals of the year.
Le Mars wrestled great even while having to wrestle in different weight classes. Whether they were going up or down, Coach Milledge says his girls answered the call.
The upper weight classes may not have been Le Mars’ strength last year, but this year it looks like it will be. Savanna Salen at 190 pounds and Riley Ernst at 235 both went 2-0 in their matches picking up wins by fall each. Coach Milledge says those two wrestled their best and put themselves in good positions to be successful.
The Bulldogs turn around right away and head to Okoboji for a girls tournament on Friday. Coach Milledge wants this aggressiveness to continue on and on because his team is better when they are setting the tone.
Le Mars starts their dual schedule in the MRAC off with a 2-0 record.
