Bulldog Basketball Splits MRAC Openers at Sergeant Bluff-Luton

The Le Mars basketball teams started their MRAC schedule on Friday night in Sergeant Bluff with matchups against Sergeant Bluff-Luton.

The ninth-ranked Le Mars girls started things off right with a strong 72-47 win over the Warriors in a game that was in the Bulldogs’ control for the entire night. After taking the lead to end the first, Le Mars did not look back in starting the MRAC schedule 1-0. Head coach Sidney Baumgartner says the Bulldogs were able to play their game the way they wanted to all night.

Metta Skov led the way for the Bulldogs with 17 points with 15 coming in the first half. Coach Baumgartner says she was very impactful by being a consistent scorer when they needed her throughout the game.

The Bulldogs have a busy week this week with two ranked in-conference matchups against Sioux City East and Bishop Heelan. They also head to Hull to take on Western Christian this week. Coach Baumgartner says her team is looking forward to being tested hard this early in the season.

The Bulldogs are now 3-0 after the win on Friday night. Sergeant Bluff-Luton started their season 0-1.

The Bulldog boys basketball team started their MRAC slate with a loss falling to Sergeant Bluff-Luton 54-38.

Le Mars’ offense never got into a rhythm despite getting some good looks at makeable shots. Head coach Cody Dyhrkopp says those shots not falling against the Warriors tightened the guys up overall.

The Bulldogs had a tough time rebounding the ball giving up plenty of second chances to the Warriors throughout the loss. Coach Dyhrkopp says sometimes the bounces just do not go your way.

Le Mars’ schedule is a gauntlet this week with East, Western Christian, and Bishop Heelan all on the docket. Coach Dyhrkopp says he is not concerned with the start and needs the guys to get back to doing what they know how to do.

Le Mars starts the MRAC schedule with a 0-1 record and are 1-1 overall. Sergeant Bluff-Luton opens their year 1-0 overall and in the MRAC.
