Gehlen Catholic Boys Basketball Bounces Back With Home Conference Win Over Hinton

The Gehlen Catholic boys basketball team bounced back to defeat Hinton on Friday night by a score of 62-43.

It was another physical game with Gehlen sending Hinton to the free throw line a total of 32 times in the contest. Head coach Ryan Wiltgen says he loved the aggressiveness from the team, but it needed to be more under control.

The Jays got a huge help from a new addition to the starting lineup. Dylan Lubben has been into the lineup replacing the injured Carson Arens. Coach Wiltgen says he is a nice facilitator that takes the pressure off the rest of the team.

Gehlen had another balanced night offensively with three players scoring in double figures. Coach Wiltgen attributes that to excellent ball movement that set up shooters with great looks all game.

This game was big for the Jays who lost right before the holiday break and lost in their return game to make a very long-running two-game losing skid. Coach Wiltgen says this win was impactful for many reasons heading into a tough week with a pair of ranked teams on the schedule.

Gehlen Catholic improved to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference with the win. Hinton dropped to 6-5 and is now 2-3 in the War Eagle Conference.
