The No. 11 Hinton girls basketball team upped their winning streak to nine games with a convincing 75-35 home win over Gehlen Catholic on Monday night.
The Blackhawks went up 10-0 in the first 90 seconds of the game and finished the first quarter with a 28-5 advantage. Hinton head coach Matt Leary says that big start can be attributed to the quick transition of defense to offense.
Bailey Boeve scored 26 points while shooting a red-hot 12-14 from the field to lead Hinton offensively. Coach Leary says, whether it is an offensive putback, a post-up, or a transition basket, she is going to find a way to score.
Hinton is now 16-2 with just two games left on the regular season schedule. Riding the momentum of a nine-game winning streak, Coach Leary wants to make sure the Blackhawks are communicating well heading into the high-energy atmospheres of the tournament.
Gehlen Catholic drops to 2-17 on the season behind 10 points from Rysaiah Sitzmann.
