Remsen St. Mary’s Football steamrolls their way to 3-0 start

The Remsen St. Mary’s football team won their 43rd-consecutive regular season game on Friday night taking down West Bend-Mallard 49-8 in Remsen.

The Hawks have outscored opponents 148-20 in this 3-0 start to the 2024 season beating teams convincingly left and right. Remsen St. Mary’s head coach Tim Osterman this great start can be attributed to having experienced players lead the way.

Remsen St. Mary’s win over the Wolverines was not without a little bit of drama. The Hawks had scored on their first couple of possessions, but it was the Wolverines’ turn to shine in the second quarter. West Bend-Mallard broke off a couple of big runs that got them on the board. Coach Osterman says the mistakes were minimal, but they led to big outcomes for the opponents.

Thankfully, those seniors showed their leadership once again. West Bend-Mallard’s first two possessions of the second half led to two Hawk turnovers. Remsen St. Mary’s went on to score 27 unanswered points in the second half to cruise to the win. Coach Osterman says the seniors were able to get each other back on the right track during the halftime break.

Now, the Hawks are exclusively into their district schedule the rest of the way. That starts with a matchup against a fellow three-win team in the Bulldogs of Boyer Valley. The Hawks will make a long road trip to Dunlap to face off with a tough team that is well-coached. Coach Osterman says his guys will be up for the challenge.

Kickoff in Dunlap will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 20th.
