Tuesday afternoon:
The Le Mars Police Chief says officers were on the crime scene Monday for more than 14 hours.

Update: Le Mars Officers responded early Monday morning to reports of a disturbance with possibe gunshots fired. Upon arrival to 37 3rd Avenue NW, Apt. 1 in Le Mars, officers located Miguel Martinez, age 21, with wounds consistent of being shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical examiner. No suspects were found at the home and the investigation is ongoing.
The Le Mars Police Department was assisted by Le Mars Fire Rescue, the Plymouth County Sherriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Rock Valley Police Department, and the ATF. No other information is being provided currently due to the ongoing investigation.

The Le Mars Police Department responded to reports of gun fire and a disturbance early this morning. Chief Kevin Vande Vegte told KLEM that the call was reported at about 2:30 a.m. and authorities responded to the incident at 37 3rd Avenue NW in Le Mars
The Le Mars Police Chief says the scene is secure and there is no active threat to the community.
