MMCRU Football runs winning streak to six games taking momentum into playoffs

The MMCRU football team polished off their sixth-consecutive win on Friday night to return to the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Royals shutout Alta-Aurelia 28-0 to finish the regular season with a record of 6-2.

The wins follow a start to the year that was very tough with the Royals losing both of their games by substantial margins. Head coach Kyle Oswald says the guys continued to battle through tough times all season.

The Royal defense came to play on Friday night being able to pitch a shutout and hold Alta-Aurelia to just 127 yards of offense. While the defense was great, Coach Oswald says the offense needed a half to catch up and do what they had to do.

That focus allowed the Royals to rush for 114 yards with 70 of those yards recorded by Brayson Mulder who also had two touchdowns. The biggest key to the rushing success for Coach Oswald was getting the guys to finally focus on what they needed to do.

MMCRU’s second-straight playoff appearance will start like the first with a home contest in Marcus. The Royals will take on Logan-Magnolia in the Round of 32. Coach Oswald says it is natural for the guys to get a little extra excited for the postseason, but he is hoping the guys continue to treat it like a normal football game.

Kickoff will be at 7:00 PM on Friday night in Marcus.
