Hinton football avenges last year’s playoff loss with win over AHSTW

The third-ranked Hinton football team got the opportunity to avenge last year’s playoff loss by defeating AHSTW on the road on Friday night by a score of 48-20.

Hinton had to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs and rematch with the team that beat them in last year’s postseason. That can be a tricky task for any team, but Hinton head coach Kadrian Hardersen says the guys were not fazed by that challenge.

The Blackhawks wasted no time in jumping out to an early lead. Before AHSTW knew what hit them, it was 21-0, and the Blackhawks were cruising. Coach Hardersen says the guys wanted to take the bull by the horns early, and they did that well.

On the defensive side, AHSTW was able to get a couple big plays to go their way and find the end zone. Outside of that, Hinton was able to lock down the Viking offense to minimal production. Coach Hardersen says a lot of that came down to being able to tackle well.

The Blackhawks are back in the round of 16 and are set up for a rematch with OABCIG who they beat 19-13 in the regular season. Coach Hardersen says the 10th football game of the year is a grind, but it proves who wants to be out there still.

The Blackhawks will take on OABCIG in Ida Grove on Friday night with kickoff at 7:00 PM.
