The MMCRU boys basketball team made the district final for the first time as a consolidation last season. This year’s Royal team is hungry to build off that campaign in 2024-25. Head coach Cam Kuchel says the guys are ready, and they will have some length with this year’s team.
The Royals bring back two strong rebounders in Michael Peterson and Brayson Mulder who averaged a combined 12 rebounds per game. Coach Kuchel says those two have continued to get better and will prove to be forces down low.
With all the length, depth, and athleticism, the Royals are hoping to push the tempo this year. Coach Kuchel says getting up and down the court with some haste will make them a very tough team to play with.
With as much talent returning as the Royals have, it is a major blessing for a team at any point in the season. Specifically, the experience helps get the season started on the right foot, and it helps end the season on the right foot. Coach Kuchel is looking forward to seeing that come to fruition with his team this year.
The Royals tip off their season tonight in Remsen hosting Harris-Lake Park. They will be renaming the gym in Remsen after former Remsen-Union coach Rockie Bork prior to the game.
