MMCRU girls basketball is well-prepared to improve on five-win season

The MMCRU girls basketball team won just five games last season, but a lot of their losses came in close contests. MMCRU head coach Gillian Letsche is eager to see if her girls can win some of those close contests this year.

This year, the Royals will not be short on height. The Royals have seven different players available that measure 5’10” or taller. Coach Letsche is hoping that height can help out on the defensive side.

Last year, MMCRU struggled to find an identity defensively due to falling behind in preparation. This year, the Royals are ahead of the game and well-prepared to take on anything. Coach Letsche says that will make them a tough matchup this season.

Now, the trick will be putting to practice what has been preached. The Royals start the year at home against Harris-Lake Park, and Coach Letsche wants to see the girls take what they have learned and put it to practical use in games.

Tip-off tonight is set for 6:00 PM in Remsen.
