Le Mars girls basketball drops tough matchup with No. 5 Sioux Center

The Le Mars Community girls basketball team fell in their 2025-opener against No. 5 Sioux Center by a score of 69-29.

The Bulldogs only trailed by 13 points at the half showing that they could contend with a high caliber of team like Sioux Center. Le Mars head coach Sidney Baumgartner says her team was doing a lot of the little things well.

As the Bulldogs came out in the second half, things went downhill. Le Mars allowed Sioux Center to outscore them 25-2 in the third quarter, and there was no coming back from that. Coach Baumgartner says some of that was Sioux Center’s ability, but a lot of it was the Bulldogs’ own doing too.

The loss puts the Bulldog record at 2-6 heading into the new year. A busy week continues for the Bulldogs with two more games still on deck. Coach Baumgartner says building off the good stuff from the first half could hopefully lead to success later in the week.

The Bulldogs host MOC-Floyd Valley on Thursday and are at Storm Lake on Friday. Both of those games can be heard on KLEM.
