Bulldog boys basketball loses in final seconds at Sergeant Bluff-Luton

The Le Mars Community boys basketball team ended their two-game winning run with a close 48-47 loss at Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs had the upper hand for a majority of the game. That included a lead at the halftime break and a seven-point lead at the end of the third. Part of the reason for that lead was some really good defense that kept the Warriors from getting into a groove. Head coach Cody Dyhrkopp says the guys are buying in on that end of the floor.

The offensive success stemmed from doing a lot of things right. Whether that was making a cut without the ball, getting high-quality shots, or finishing through contact near the basket, Le Mars had the recipe for success. Coach Dyhrkopp says everyone had a hand in that success throughout the night.

Ultimately, Le Mars would not come out on top after being outscored by eight points in the fourth quarter. Sergeant Bluff-Luton took the lead for good with just three seconds remaining in the game. Coach Dyhrkopp says the loss was tough to take considering his guys did many things right.

Le Mars is now 3-9 on the season and 2-6 in the MRAC. They host Sioux City East coming up on Friday to start a run of three-straight home games.
