The Le Mars Community boys track and field team took second place in a loaded field at the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Relays on Tuesday night.
Competition was tough with some very good teams in attendance while competing on a cold night. Le Mars head coach Caleb Van Otterloo says his guys battled well against the weather, the tough competition, and their own times.
Israel Beltran was a bit of an unsung hero for the Bulldogs in the meet recording a win in the 200m dash and second-place finishes in the 100m and the 4x100m Relay. Coach Van Otterloo says Beltran is hungry for success in his junior year of competition.
Overall, the Bulldogs were competitive in everything from field events to relays, long distance, and short distance. Coach Van Otterloo says he has very athletic guys that are willing to take on new events when needed to help the team.
The Bulldogs return to the track in Sioux Center on Thursday night. They will have the Sioux City Relays and their home Don Shilling Invite within the next week as well.
