Akron-Westfield girls golf stays undefeated with conference victory at Gehlen Catholic

The Akron-Westfield girls golf team kept their undefeated start to the year on track with a 198-236 victory over Gehlen at Willow Creek Golf Course.

The Westerners have been the model of consistency early in the season with scores within the 190s in all three of their wins. First-year head coach Steven Husk says that consistency is coming from many athletes.

Akron-Westfield finally got a good weather day which meant they could focus more on some little things within their game. It was also their first road matchup of the season, and Coach Husk says the girls had to get adjusted to different greens.

Early in the season, the Westerners have been successful in spite of their approaches. Coach Husk says the Westerners have to get better on their initial start to any particular hole.

Akron-Westfield is back in action on Tuesday against Harris-Lake Park.
