The Le Mars Community girls tennis team picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday night beating Sioux City West 8-1 in Le Mars.
The Bulldogs finally had a great weather night to compete after dealing with high winds the last few competitions. Head coach Tifany Wright says the weather was great, but it took some getting used to the good weather to figure out how to compete in it again.
After they got things figured out, the Bulldogs were dominant. Three of Le Mars’ six singles wins came via 8-0 scores and one of their doubles matches was by a score of 8-0. They also had two wins by the score of 8-1. Coach Wright says it is enjoyable to be part of a dual with some lopsided scores like that.
Speaking of domination, Kali Cunningham has been on a tear this season for the Bulldogs. In singles action, she is a perfect 4-0 with only seven game losses out of a potential 39 competed. Coach Wright says Cunningham is a really smart tennis player.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-2 with the win and now have a week off with spring break and the Easter holiday coming up this weekend. With some added time without competition, Coach Wright wants to continue improving her players by getting them thinking about certain times in a tennis match.
The Bulldogs next take the court on Tuesday, April 22 when they go on the road to take on Storm Lake.
