Le Mars boys soccer wins physical ranked matchup with Unity Christian

The Le Mars Community boys soccer team picked up a ranked victory on Thursday night defeating seventh-ranked Unity Christian 1-0 in Le Mars.

The win is Le Mars’ second in a row, but it is their first win this season over a team that is ranked. Le Mars head coach Blake Fehringer says this is a good win for his team because the guys got a chance to respond to a tough first half.

Defensively, the Knights were giving Le Mars everything they could handle. For a team that has been making changes to the defensive positions, that can cause a bit of nervousness. Coach Fehringer says the guys who have stepped up back there have been playing very well.

The game was a very physical kind of game. Le Mars’ only goal scored off a penalty kick from Jovany Kabongo in the later portion of the first half. After that, the Bulldogs had to deal with some physical play and be ready to dish it out at times as well. Coach Fehringer says this game showed his team is full of fighters.

Le Mars improves their record to 4-3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs have another scenario where they get to play two games on back-to-back days. Coach Fehringer says it will take every one digging deep to continue this momentum.

The Bulldogs are on the road today to take on Glenwood in a non-conference matchup.
