Le Mars Community boys soccer celebrates senior night with sixth-straight win

The Le Mars Community boys soccer team is on a tear right now. The Bulldogs just won their sixth-consecutive match defeating Sioux City West on senior night on Tuesday by the score of 4-0.

Prior to this season, the Bulldogs had seasons of two wins and seven wins twice. Winning six matches in a row was previously unheard of, but this team has something special going for it. Head coach Blake Fehringer says the guys are committed to putting in work to improve every day.

Le Mars has had to improve in the way they lineup their players and position them on the pitch. The Bulldogs had to use different guys in different positions to beat the Wolverines on Tuesday. Coach Fehringer says it is a good problem to have because the guys have responded well to the new opportunities.

The senior night festivities continued on the pitch with senior Jovany Kabongo scoring three goals and fellow senior Jacob Plueger scoring a goal in the win. Coach Fehringer says each of the five seniors have had a huge role in making this program succeed in its early years.

If the winning streak is to continue, it will have to go through a gauntlet of a final three games of the regular season. The Bulldogs will finish the year at MOC-Floyd Valley, at top-ranked Bishop Heelan, and hosting the team who has ended their season the last two years with Storm Lake coming to town. Coach Fehringer says the guys have to take things game-by-game to be playing their best in the postseason.

Le Mars’ matchup with MOC-Floyd Valley is set for Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM in Orange City.
