Kramer wins individual medalist at War Eagle Conference golf tournament

The individual medalist of the War Eagle Conference tournament went to a Hinton golfer for the second day in a row as Ashlyn Kramer shot an 87 to claim the honor on Tuesday in Le Mars.

Kramer has been the top golfer in the War Eagle Conference all season. She says to have that proven in the tournament means her hard work was well worth it.

Kramer’s time on the tee box certainly paid off for her. She says that set her up for a lot of success especially with the putting being tricky all day.

Putting at Willow Creek could lead to the best of golfers doubting their ability. Kramer says she can struggle with that at times as well, but she knows she will have chances later in the round to better her score.

Kramer will now try to get back to the state tournament for the second year in a row starting with a competition on her home course in the region tournament. She says the home course advantage will be nice, but she still needs to prove that she will be able to earn a right to compete later in the year.

Kramer and the Blackhawks host their regional opening round contest at Deer Run Golf Course on Friday, May 16.
