The MMCRU boys golf team continued their push for consecutive trips to state by advancing out of Wednesday’s sectional meet in Holstein shooting a 324 and finishing in third.
The Royals were able to bank on their experienced leaders to help pave the way to a qualifying round of golf. Head coach Mark Schuttler says they have proven to be consistent most of the season.
What should be scary to a lot of MMCRU’s competitors on Monday is that the score could have easily been lower. Mental miscues hurt the Royals at times who had to and did counteract double bogeys with birdies at times. Coach Schuttler says the guys need to play safe golf in the future.
The Royals have a long trek ahead of them for their district meet. MMCRU will travel nearly three hours north and east to Lake Mills to try and punch their ticket to back-to-back state tournaments. Coach Schuttler says the guys will get an opportunity to spend this upcoming weekend immersed in the course and playing their game.
MMCRU’s district meet is held on Monday, May 19 in Lake Mills at Rice Lake Golf Course.
