Kingsley-Pierson girls golf fights through poor conditions to qualify for region final

The Kingsley-Pierson girls golf team qualified out of the regional opening round contest in Le Mars on Friday shooting a 422 and finishing in second place.

The weather conditions certainly reflect on the score with wind and rain wreaking havoc on the day. Head coach Val Sitzmann says everybody had to deal with it, and her girls did a good job fighting through it.

Jordyn Sitzmann once again led the Panthers with a score of 87 which was second best on the day individually. The Panthers were able to give her some help which has happened more often as the season has gone along. Coach Sitzmann says having everybody do their part has been key to the success.

The Panthers will compete in Primghar in the regional final looking to qualify for the state tournament as a team for the first time in school history. Primghar is not a golf course that the Panthers play on very often, so Coach Sitzmann says quick adjustments will be key on Wednesday.

The region final takes place on Wednesday, May 21 in Primghar.
