The Gehlen Catholic baseball team started their home slate off right with a 12-2 win in six innings over Western Christian on Friday night.
After their season-opening loss in Sioux Center ended in disappointing fashion, the Jays were encouraged to get back on the right track against the Wolfpack. Gehlen Catholic head coach Loi Kraft says the guys responded to the challenge.
The Jays certainly improved their approach at the plate to the tune of 17 free passes awarded to them. Of those 17 free passes, 13 were bases on balls that helped keep the line moving all night. Coach Kraft says the guys showed great discipline at the plate.
Gehlen Catholic jumps head first into a regular schedule of matchups this week. The Jays will play four games this week including a doubleheader on Thursday. Coach Kraft says it is a very important week for his guys.
The Jays will next be in action on Tuesday at home against West Sioux.
