Hinton baseball wins back-and-forth matchup at Gehlen Catholic

The Hinton baseball team did something they had not done in four years last night. They beat Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars improving to 5-1 with a 3-2 victory.

Hinton took the first lead of the game early in the contest. Gehlen later took the lead with two runs in the fourth, and Hinton took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth leaving everyone on edge throughout the game. That edge gave the Blackhawks energy, and head coach Cale Kramer says the guys perform well with that energy flowing through them.

The Blackhawks were able to take the lead for good thanks to Logan Kempema who drove in two runs with a double late in the game. He also was solid on the mound pitching into the seventh while allowing three hits, two runs, and striking out eight. Coach Kramer says he is playing some of his best baseball due to his focus.

Hinton will be tested throughout this week and right away with a doubleheader against George-Little Rock and Central Lyon tomorrow. Coach Kramer says his team welcomes the test and looks forward to seeing how the guys respond.

Hinton improves to 5-1 with the win while Gehlen Catholic drops to 5-3 on the season.
