School Board to Hold Public Hearing
The Le Mars Community Board of Education meets tonight (June 9) at 6 p.m. in the high school library. The agenda includes a hearing on a potential land exchange of current school district property with Dogwood Properties.
The School Board is considering the land exchange for the construction of the new elementary school.
The plan originally called for the school to be built on district-owned land near the middle/high school complex. However, the land exchange with Dogwood Properties would mean the district would swap their 17 acres for approximately 30 acres located at the south end of Central Avenue along 18th street, plus additional money on top of the exchange.
The hearing will allow public comment on the land exchange.
Other agenda items for tonight’s meeting include a Williams & Company audit report for fiscal year 2024, end of the year Principal reports, and the renewal of the school’s property and casualty insurance.
Note the meeting location change- tonight’s meeting will be held in the high school library.

She says the funding for the transformation comes in part from this year’s “Fund the Cause” at the Gehlen Ball.
The project is expected to be completed by August of this summer.
