Kemp Strike Ends After Tentative Agreement Reached
The strike at the Kemps dairy plant in Le Mars ended Friday night after a tentative agreement was reached between the labor union and Dairy Farmers of America.
Macias told KLEM that there were no incidents during the 27-hour strike.
He says with the tentative agreement, union employees are back to work.
Dairy Farmer’s of America issued this statement concerning the tentative agreement:
“Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) has reached a new tentative agreement for our valued employees at our Le Mars, Iowa, manufacturing plant. We appreciate the dairy farm families who have invested in this plant and these jobs, allowing us to work together to provide fresh, nutritious dairy to our customers and the local communities and schools that rely upon us.”

Wedding Dresses on Parade at the Museum
The “Dresses on Parade” exhibit at the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars has taken on a wedding theme. Museum Administrator Jennifer Scholten says there are several decades of dresses on display.
Included in some of the wedding accessories on display is a wedding veil purchased in Paris that has been worn by over 60 brides.
The Plymouth County Historical Museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 1 till 5 p.m.

Supervisors Will Meet Tuesday
The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. The agenda includes continued discussion of the Merrill Ambulance funding request using opiod funds and also under old business, discussion concerning the EMA/storage building.

Ag Secretary Naig in Plymouth County
As part of his annual visits to every county, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will be making a number of stops in Northwest Iowa today and tomorrow (August 25 & 26.)
That includes a visit to the Heritage Bison Ranch near Hinton this afternoon (August 25.) Secretary Naig will visit with the Prins family and discuss their ranch, including how they ship the meat and how they raise the bison from birth to harvest. Their home ranch is in South Dakota, but they also have a herd of bison near Hinton.
Naig will discuss the Choose Iowa program, the state’s signature brand for Iowa grown, made, and raised products.
The afternoon visit is scheduled for approximately 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. today.
The two-day trip to Northwest Iowa also includes stops in Sioux Center today at the Central Vet Clinic and tomorrow (Tuesday, August 26) at Siouxland Energy Cooperative in Sioux Center and at MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City.

City/ School Election is November 4, 2025
The City and School Election will take place November 4th and candidates can begin filing on Monday, August 25th. City Candidates will file their papers at the Auditor’s office and School Candidates will file with the school secretary.
September 18th is the filing deadline for the election.

The delicious showdown happens on Sunday, September 7th, at 11:00 a.m. on the Farmers Savings Bank Stage inside the Creative Living Center. Local celebrity judges will sample each creation and crown one vendor the ultimate champion.
Separate from the competition are several other new food additions at the 2025 Clay County Fair including pickle lemonade, a hot Cheeto footlong corn dog, and what’s called monkey tails on a stick.
