Lights-Camera-Action! Feature Film in Le Mars
A feature film called “Pastoral” is being made with many local connections. Travis Barret has returned to his hometown of Le Mars to make this project a reality.
Members of the Le Mars Community Theatre have been cast in the film including Jeff Neary, Renae Buss, and Angela Riedeman. Jonathon Foster, who is also from Le Mars, is a member of the crew.
Barrett has been involved with the project from writing the script, to fundraising, and now directing the film.
He hopes to have the movie released by Spring or Summer of next year on a streaming app and would like to have some local showings of the film in Le Mars.

Life Skills Training Center Opening New Building
Life Skills Training Center has announced a Grand Opening for their new day habilitation building in Le Mars on September 24th.
Starting at 5 p.m., attendees can tour the new facility and can hear from clients and staff members about new and improved features. Free dinner will be provided by the Plymouth County Pork Producers and Martin Brothers, and remarks will be made at 5:30.
The new building has been home to the day habilitation program since June. Features include a gym, an art room, a sensory room, and a kitchen with modified cooking equipment. The program provides social interaction, therapeutic activities, and community engagement to over 30 clients.
The new facility is located at 436 2nd Avenue NE in Le Mars.

Le Mars Fall Clean Up
The City of Le Mars is organizing a fall clean up starting on Saturday (September 13th) and running through next week.
The city is declaring an amnesty from the landfill disposal cost, so residential households can throw away certain items at the Plymouth County Landfill for free. Eligible items include furniture, wooden items, and metal items. Couches, chairs, mattresses, scrap lumber, bikes, mowers, bed frames, and similar items can be brought to the Landfill for no cost.
Items not included in the amnesty include normal household garbage, TV’s, hazardous waste, and appliances. For a full list of items not included in the amnesty, please check the Le Mars city website here.
The Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The Fall Clean Up ends on September 19th.

Le Mars Town Hall Meeting Tonight
A reminder that a Le Mars town hall meeting will be held tonight at the Willow Creek Golf Course’s Banquet Hall at 5:30pm.
Those in attendance will hear about the upcoming November referendum for a new fire station. The public is invited to bring up any other topic for City staff and the Council.
