The Le Mars Community boys golf team finished fifth out of seven teams at their home invitational on Monday.
The weather was not great for playing golf with wind gusts that reached 30 miles an hour throughout the day. That may have flustered the team a little as they shot their second-worst score of the year with a 326. Head coach Nick Knapp says the guys may have, in turn, forced some things when they did not need to.
While Drake Brownmiller and Wyatt Leners have led the team most of the year, Austin Susemihl was the top scoring golfer for the Bulldogs this go-around with an 80. Coach Knapp says he has remained committed to his craft on the course while also playing on the gridiron.
The Bulldogs have a handful of meets left throughout the month of September before the postseason begins. Coach Knapp hopes this meet is a wake-up call to the guys and how they can adapt in tougher conditions.
Le Mars gets right back to work today with a meet at Sioux City West.
