After a tough loss against top-ranked Bishop Garrigan in week one, the Kingsley-Pierson football team is 4-1 and 4-0 district play after a 79-26 beatdown of Newell-Fonda on Friday night.
One of those wins is by forfeit, and there was almost a second by forfeit prior to rescheduling a game late in week four. That constant uncertainty surrounding the schedule has been frustrating for the Panthers. Head coach Travis Neumann says the biggest thing has been keeping the guys focused on what they do day in and day out.
The Panthers scored 11 touchdowns in their win with five guys finding paydirt and recording 443 yards of offense. It was a stunning show of offense to most, but Coach Neumann knows he has so many weapons on his team that can make a play at any moment.
Kingsley-Pierson led 52-26 going into the halftime break and did not feel like they had played their best. They responded by shutting the Mustangs out 27-0 in the second half. Coach Neumann says it was great to see the guys stay motivated to finish the game strong.
With the constant changing of the schedule, Kingsley-Pierson has played just one game at home. They finally return home this week with homecoming set for Friday night and the non-district finale against West Bend-Mallard. Coach Neumann says it will be great for the guys to show off their hard work in front of their community.
Kickoff between the Panthers and the Wolverines on Friday night is set for 7:00 PM.
