New local cocktail mix announces November launch
A new locally made cocktail mixer is set to hit store shelves next month. Bloody Buddies, a new brand of bloody mary mixers, will launch in November, co-owner Kelly Quinn told KLEM.
Bloody Buddies started after Quinn, who also owns Soho Kitchen & Bar and Marty’s Tap in Sioux City, got the idea at Marty’s.
Fellow co-owner Kyle Britton joined with Bloody Buddies after Quinn realized what the demand looked like for a local cocktail mixer.
Britton says Bloody Buddies is different from other bloody mary mixes in that it uses all natural ingredients.
Bloody Buddies was a part of Sioux City’s Innovation Market this past May, reaching the final round. Quinn, Britton, and Taylor decided to launch it on their own after teaming up with a local co-packer, and says their goal is to have a wider reach than just Siouxland.
Bloody Buddies will launch next month. A list of locations and launch details will be announced later on their social media pages.

Fire-Rescue answers calls for service in September
Le Mars Fire-Rescue answered 177 calls for service during the month of September, according to their monthly report.
The department responded to 64 9-1-1 calls within Le Mars and the surrounding area. 15 investigation calls were made, which include illegal burnings and alarms. 32 special operation calls were received, and 20 requests for services were made to the department.
During September, the department received and put in service new bulletproof vests, provided AED training to Library staff, gave a fire extinguisher class to over 200 people at Bo Deans Baking, and participated in the homecoming parades of Gehlen Catholic and Le Mars Community.

Le Mars Art Center hosting pottery classes
The Le Mars Art Center is hosting a mug building workshop this weekend at the Genevieve Grau Pottery Studio inside the Art Center. It’s one of several pottery workshops the Center is holding this fall.
The workshops are taught by ceramicist Annie Laursen. The first session of the season was held last Monday, focusing on pottery wheel basics, while Saturday’s workshop will focus on the basics of clay building. Admission to the class costs $50, with clay and tools covered by the price.
The workshop takes place this Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Le Mars Art Center.
