Fareway donates 2,000 units of corn for the holiday season

The Food Bank of Siouxland has announced that Fareway Stores has donated over 2,000 units of corn for the bank’s Holiday Harvest Boxes program.

The annual program aims to alleviate the budgets of those at risk by giving boxes of food for $5, allowing families to save for holiday costs and gifts. Each box contains traditional holiday side dishes, such as corn, cream of mushroom, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans.

Jacob Wanderscheid, executive director of the Food Bank of Siouxland, says that the boxes “help families across Siouxland gather around the table and enjoy a holiday meal without the worry of how they’ll afford it,” and that partnering with companies like Fareway helps the Food Bank “bring comfort and hope to our neighbors during this special season”.

The Food Bank’s goal this year is to distribute 2,500 boxes across Siouxland. For availability, call your local food pantry.
