The Le Mars Community volleyball team ended their season on Tuesday night via a sweep at the hands of Storm Lake.
All three sets were competitive though as the Bulldogs managed to score at least 21 points in every set. Despite the outcome, Le Mars did some great things that kept them in the match. Assistant coach Kennedy Candor was filling for head coach Jess Wolles and says this was the best volleyball they had played all season.
The Tornadoes had a tough front row to work around. It averaged three blocks a set going into the match and reached that in every set against the Bulldogs. Coach Candor says that block seemingly threw them for a loop.
The second set was the most competitive one with Le Mars losing it 29-27. Le Mars had a 24-21 lead and could not quite seal off the set in three-straight points. Coach Candor says that set felt like a turning point in the match.
The season ends for Le Mars with a record of 6-30, and they graduate seven seniors off the team. Coach Candor says they were the first group that played their entire high school career with her and Coach Wolles making them a special group.
Storm Lake advances to take on Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Thursday night at 7:00 PM in Sergeant Bluff.
