The Iowa Girls Coaches Association has announced their 2025 Hall of Fame Class for the Volleyball Coaches and Officials Hall of Fame. Former Le Mars Community teacher Deb Richarz will be inducted into the hall of fame at a ceremony in conjunction with the 2025 Senior All-Star weekend in Johnston on November 15.
Deb Richarz attended West Lyon High School where she participated in basketball, softball, and track. She went on to play collegiate basketball and softball at Augustana University. Deb started officiating softball in 1980. She was inducted in the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame in 2010.
Deb has been officiating volleyball for 34 years. During those years she has worked 20 state tournaments including five state finals. Deb was the first female official to work the State Volleyball Tournament. Deb is currently the IGHSAU Volleyball Officials Coordinator, a position she has held since 2021.
In 2018, Deb retired from Le Mars Community Schools after teaching physical education for 38 years. Deb still lives in Le Mars.
