The third-ranked Hinton volleyball team advanced to their fourth-straight region final with a straight-set sweep of West Lyon on Monday night.
The serving game was the difference for Hinton in their sweep of West Lyon. Hinton’s serve receive helped set the tone giving them great opportunities to get quickly into their offense. Hinton co-head coach Robin Mohr says when the offense gets the ball moving well, it makes all the difference.
On the other side of the serving game, Hinton was able to serve aggressively which kept West Lyon from doing what they wanted to do. Coach Mohr says Co-head coach Kate Ortegren handles all of those calls, and the girls execute what is asked of them.
Hinton had a number of freshmen step up to have big nights in the win. Coach Mohr says those players will have a chance to get some valuable playing time in the postseason that will pay off later in their careers.
The Blackhawks will now take on Emmetsburg in the region final on Wednesday night in Orange City. Coach Mohr says playing Hinton’s game is the most important thing when you get late into the postseason.
First serve between the Blackhawks and E-Hawks is set for 7:00 PM at MOC-Floyd Valley High School on Wednesday. KLEM Radio will broadcast the match live with coverage beginning at 6:45 PM.
