Public meeting held for Highway 75 reconstruction

Citizens learned more about the Business US-75 Reconstruction Project and gave their input during a public open house held Thursday at the Willow Creek Golf Course in Le Mars.

Bryan Wells, project manager from DGR Engineering in Sioux City, told KLEM that the project is in the early pre-design phase.

Le Mars City Administrator Jason Vacura says one of the proposals is to switch from four lanes to three lanes in that section of Highway 75.

Information provided at the meeting listed traffic counts on that section of the corridor as high as 9,500 vehicles per day. The DGR Project Manager says a special study is being conducted to evaluate the traffic.

Vacura says another proposal is the possible closure of the street between the Le Mars Dairy Queen and Godfather’s Pizza.

The Le Mars City Administrator says there are two options for funding this reconstruction project.

Additional public meetings will be held in the future. Project construction is planned for 2027 and 2028.
