Central Valley Ag expanding mental health support to member-owners
Central Valley Ag has announced they’re expanding mental health support to it’s member-owners with the launch of the Solid Ground program.
Starting now, CVA will provide member-owners access with the same confidential mental health services currently available to CVA’s employees through the Best Care Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The program offers short-term clinical counseling, crisis support, and a variety of other resources available to support mental and emotional wellness. In-person and online options from licensed professionals and counselors are available, and eligible CVA members and family members can access up to three counseling sessions per case at no cost.
In a press release, Nic McCarthy, the CEO of Central Valley Ag, says that by providing Best Care EAP to member-owners, CVA is “providing meaningful support where it’s needed,” and that “this expansion reflects our cooperative’s ongoing commitment to care for the people who make agriculture possible.”
Members can begin the confidential registration process at bestcareeap.org.

Special statewide Thanksgiving traffic enforcement starting up
There’ll be extra officers out on Iowa roadways this week for the state’s Thanksgiving special traffic enforcement. Brett Tjepkes is the Bureau Chief of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
He says they will be looking for people who are speeding or using their phones while driving.
Thanksgiving is known as a day where people might eat too much turkey, but it isn’t thought to be a big holiday for alcohol. Tjepkes says it can be a factor any time of the year.
Tjepkes says there is zero tolerance for drinking and driving.
The special enforcement will run through November 30th.
