Le Mars boys basketball lets another non-conference matchup slip away in the second half

The Le Mars Community boys basketball team let another contested non-conference matchup slip away in the second half falling to MOC-Floyd Valley by the score of 62-48.

After their loss to Sioux Center on Monday, the Bulldogs knew they had to reinforce some things better to compete with the defending state champion Dutch. Head coach Cody Dyhrkopp says they put in a lot of work fixing mistakes, and it paid off early against MOC-Floyd Valley.

The Bulldogs were up going into the second half and were outscored 39-22 in the second half and 17-6 in the fourth quarter. Coach Dyhrkopp says the offense sputtered due to some unfortunate shot selection.

Le Mars has no time to feel bad for themselves as they get ready to resume action on a back-to-back night against No. 4 Storm Lake. The Tornadoes have won of the best players in the state of Iowa and are poised for another state tournament run. Coach Dyhrkopp does not want any of that to be the focus, but he wants his guys to play with a ton of intensity.

Le Mars now sits at 4-5 on the season with the loss. Tycen Augustine’s 12 points led the scoring effort.
