Le Mars girls basketball drops tough road ranked matchup with MOC-Floyd Valley

The Le Mars Community girls basketball team suffered another ranked non-conference loss falling to No. 11 MOC-Floyd Valley by the score of 48-34 on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs were in the game on the defensive side most of the night keeping the Dutch from getting much going in the paint. Head coach Sidney Ruden says the struggles came on the offensive side where the Bulldogs could not find a rhythm.

A spark for the Bulldogs in the second half came from Avery Niehus who was able to pick up some offensive opportunities while also finding a way to track down loose balls. Coach Ruden says she has provided some more depth for this team when they’ve really needed it.

No rest for the Bulldogs this week as Le Mars plays on back-to-back days with a contest at home against Storm Lake. Coach Ruden is looking for her team to come out ready to play right away from the opening tip.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-7 on the season with the loss to the Dutch. Jorja Bixenman led the scoring with nine points.
