Le Mars boys wrestling has strong showing at home invitational

The Le Mars Community boys wrestling team finished ninth as a team with two wrestlers on the podium as part of their home invitational this weekend.

The Le Mars Invitational has gotten tougher and tougher as better and better teams sign up to compete at it. Head coach Shane Hessenius says he challenged his guys to wrestle with heart at their home meet, and they answered the call.

Le Mars was able to put many wrestlers in placement matches throughout the day proving their depth as a team overall. Coach Hessenius says tournaments are tough from a physical standpoint, and the guys fought their way through it.

A pair of Sitzmanns were able to finish on the podium with Jefferson Sitzmann taking third-place at 132 and Hayden Sitzmann doing the same at 165. Coach Hessenius says their placement matches proved their toughness all throughout the tournament.

The Bulldogs continue to work their way toward improvement ahead of the district tournament in a few weeks. Coach Hessenius says there is always something to work on with his guys, and they have always responded to that coaching.

The Bulldogs next compete on Tuesday at a double dual hosted by MOC-Floyd Valley. Le Mars’ district meet is Saturday, February 14 at Council Bluffs AL.
