Le Mars girls basketball sees season end at Spencer

The Le Mars girls basketball team saw their season end on Saturday night on the road against the Spencer Tigers by the score of 52-41 in the regional semifinal.

The Bulldogs played a tough opponent and played them tough all throughout the game. A stretch midway through the second quarter ultimately hurt Le Mars badly when the Tigers scored 13-straight points. Head coach Sidney Ruden says she was still happy with the overall effort from her team.

After trailing by as much as 16 points in the second quarter, Le Mars started the comeback trail and made it a seven-point game going into the fourth quarter. Coach Ruden says her team came out on a mission to open the third quarter.

Part of the spark in the third quarter came from Shea Susemihl on the offensive side. She finished with 16 points including three makes from three-point range. Coach Ruden says she was playing her style of game, and it was benefitting her greatly.

The loss ends the careers of four senior Bulldogs who conclude the year with a record of 9-14. Coach Ruden says all four of her seniors were great to have as part of the program.

Mya Skov, Jorja Bixenman, Grace Westhoff, and Taylor Rolfes graduate the Le Mars girls basketball team this season. Spencer advances to the region final on Tuesday night to take on No. 1 Bishop Heelan in Sioux City.
